During the six weeks of Lent we will root ourselves in liberation, justice, and
a holistic vision of salvation, here on this earth.

Embark on a sacred journey exploring the theme “Making a Way out of No Way,” drawn from an expression of African-American culture and Womanist theology. Open your heart and continue to wander the Lenten path with sacred invitations to alternative ways of being and seeing in the world.

Every Friday of Lent a version of a new song, “From No Way,” will be released as a reflective practice with added voices, original art, and a weekly reflection question. There will be an opportunity for participants to add their own unique voice by submitting a vocal or instrumental contribution. As the weeks go by, our community seeking to make a way will grow.

SCHEDULE:
12:30-12:55 Registration Check-In
1:00-1:20 Prayer for Peace in the Temple Sanctuary
1:30-4:00 Open Time at Spiritual Practice Stations
4:00-6:00 Break for dinner on your own and fellowship
6:00-8:00 Community Labyrinth Walk with live music on the Temple Rooftop

After continued attention to current Covid-19 trends, we are thrilled to safely move forward with hosting this sacred day of retreat on Saturday, April 16 at the Community of Christ Temple. This experience will include a Prayer for Peace at 1:00p, followed by open time to visit several spiritual practice stations throughout the Temple including Centering Prayer, Yoga & Meditation, Visio Divina with our special Ash Wednesday painting, and Lectio Divina/Dwelling in the Word.

The retreat will break at 4:00 PM for fellowship and an opportunity for dinner on your own. As weather permits, we will re-gather for an open Community Labyrinth Walk on the Temple Rooftop with live music from 6-8 PM. Registration is not required to participate in the Community Labyrinth Walk. We hope you can join us for this experience!

Community of Christ’s Daily Bread blog, organized by Spiritual Formation Ministries, is offering a reflective series of writings as a companion to the Lent journey. Our theme, “Making A Way out of Now Way” will be explored through Lenten scriptures, daily reflective writings from diverse, global perspectives, and daily questions that provide fertile ground to nurture a deeper connection to the Spirit during this sacred season.

If you missed our Ash Wednesday experience on March 2, you can watch it anytime on Youtube or Facebook, experiencing reflective original music and art.
