About the Center for Living Water
Seeking spiritual transformation and peaceful living through practice and action
The Center for Living Water is both a sacred place and a movement. Offerings of the Center are sponsored by Community of Christ at its Worldwide Headquarters in Independence, MO, a space dedicated to peace, and intentionally designed to be welcoming to all people. The Community of Christ Temple campus is home to an inclusive sanctuary, rooms for meditation and practice, diverse international displays of art, and a rooftop community labyrinth.
Through practice and action, our mission is to be a wellspring of life in the community. As diverse participants come together for personal spiritual practice, discernment, and community gatherings, a collective movement towards peace and justice emerges. As this movement takes shape, like living water, compassionate responses will flow and give life beyond the walls of offerings at the Center.
What is emerging?
Inherent in the work of the Center is a model of contemplation and action. As the work of discernment happens, we respond to what emerges through new expressions of practice and action both personally and in community. The Center for Living Water seeks to be responsive to life and activity in the community, offering opportunities that are relevant and connected to the lived experience of neighbors and seekers of diverse backgrounds. How the Center is present in the community will ebb and flow in harmony with the natural rhythms of the neighborhood.
